The 2019 .9995 1-ounce platinum American Eagles went on sale to authorized purchasers on January 7. The United States Mint does not sell bullion coins directly to the public. The Mint is planning to produce 40,000 coins, which is 10,000 more than were offered in 2018.

As of January 28, 2018 sales had reached 25,600 coins, which is 66.5% of the maximum authorization for 2019. If you collect these beautiful $100 face value, legal tender coins, you may want to buy them soon, as in this active metals market they could quickly sell out.

  1. It is a shame that the mint does not sell bullion coins to the public. These are such beautiful coins!
